What’s with the colors? - Info drop #4

In our last info drop, we covered the Upgrade system in great detail and mentioned that the next one will be a direct sequel focused on ship selection.

Well, the time is here and ships will indeed be the main topic of this story.

We will go over every variant, what bonuses they provide and how these bonuses will directly tie-in with the Upgrade system.

There will be four ships to choose from in Cosmic Paradox: Noire, all of which are present in the image above.

We assume that many of you will remember them by their colors, but they do have very specific names for a reason. Each name is directly related to the bonus that the ship provides.

Bonuses that enhance player stats will stack with the current value of that upgrade branch.

For example, if your health is currently at Level 3,  that would give you 2000 HP by default. If you were to equip a ship that increases your health by 20%, it would go up to 2400 HP.

Bonus details

Now, let’s go over each ship and their respective bonus.

Vex Elite - Credits earned increased by 10%

A prestigious fighter unit controlled by those who manage to become some of the best pilots in the Vex Accord, earning them the title of Vex Elite.

This starting ship will provide an excellent boost to your Credits earn rate. Ten percent might not seem like much at first, but it does add up quite quickly. By utilizing this bonus, you will be able to  purchase desired ships or upgrades a little faster. It is a great perk to have early on, and you can always come back to this ship if you are in need of more Credits down the line. It is also a very good option as your main ship until you max everything out should you wish to do so as quickly as possible.

Breacher - Movement speed increased by 5%

This ship was created for Vex Elite members who value speed above everything else.

A personal favourite of mine, fantastic for those who prefer a slightly more aggressive playstyle.

Although it is an absolutely worthwhile investment for those with a similar preference, I would highly suggest maxing out the Mobility stat first, before pushing it even further with this ship. The first upgrade will already provide a 10% increase to your mobility. Consider the Breacher ship as an endgame mobility build and it will serve you very well.

Defender - Health increased by 20%

The Defender ship’s sole purpose is to ensure maximum probability of success. Best assigned to Vex Elite members that are about to embark on especially difficult missions.

If you find yourself struggling with a particular stage, consider choosing this ship as your deployment option. It will provide a meaningful boost even if your health is at Level 1, and will only get better with each subsequent upgrade.

There is no right or wrong time to purchase the Defender ship, it is a viable option at any stage of your journey.

Dagger - Damage increased by 20%

A ship designed to optimize combat performance for the most demanding battle scenarios.

What will likely be the go to choice for many, the Dagger ship is certainly an excellent choice.

Reducing the time it takes to destroy an enemy is always welcome, but this ship primarily excels against stronger enemy variants and especially bosses. Basically, the higher the HP of an enemy ship, the more useful this damage bonus will be. For lower to mid tier enemies, it won’t really make much of a difference.

Of course, this bonus will also stack with the damage level of your Laser. Combine that with an upgraded Rampage power-up that temporarily doubles your rate of fire and you have a boss melting machine.

One final thing that we want to point out is that each bonus is unique to a particular ship. You cannot mix and match the look of one ship with the bonus of another.

Armory tour complete

We have now fully covered the Armory section in Cosmic Paradox: Noire, which includes upgrades and ship selection.

In the next info drop, we will talk more about the campaign mode and its ranking system.

Looking forward to seeing you there. In the meantime, take care and have a wonderful day.
