Over four months ago, the reveal trailer for Cosmic Paradox: Noire was released, along with the first info drop.
Since then, we have covered the Theme & Setting, Wave rewards, Upgrade system, Ship selection, Campaign & Ranks as well as the Survival mode.
This info drop finale will be dedicated to enemy ships and the meaning behind their colors.
We have already mentioned Supreme enemies in our previous story, but you are yet to learn more about regular enemies and their variations, so this should act as a nice follow up.
Without further ado, let’s get to it.
We are going to go over the ordinary enemy ships first. Our scout teams have been hard at work, so we have the full list for you this time.
For the sake of continuity, we are going to combine the initial report with the updated one, to offer a concise experience.
Assault - Nimble fighters that pack decent firepower, but lack resilience. It is usually best to deal with them head one as a couple of well placed shots will do the job, but one must be careful not to get overwhelmed.
Fighter - The jack of all trades. Although these ships do not particularly excel in any category, it would be difficult to pinpoint a specific weakness. Their armor and speed are respectable, while their low damage is offset by firing two simultaneous projectiles, which additionally reduces chances of a successful evasion.
Recon - Deadly, but predictable. Although these ships were not primarily designed for combat, they are more than capable of putting up a good fight. Their mobility is limited, but their strong hull and powerful laser make up for it. To further increase their chances of victory, Recon squads always stick together, generally attacking as a single unit.
Chargers - These dangerous drones were created for a single purpose, to eliminate anything in their path. They fire no projectiles, instead they will charge across the battlefield in an attempt to crash into a high value target, destroying it and themselves in the process. Engage with caution.
Bomber - You would be wise to tread carefully when facing even a single Bomber ship, let alone a whole squad. With aggressive movement patterns, high damage and above average defense it would seem like Bombers leave nothing but destruction in their wake. That is very much true, but intel suggests that the speed of these ships is slower compared to the rest. This should allow skilled pilots to maneuver around their bombs while keeping shots on target.
Now that we covered the ordinary enemy ships, we will shift our focus to Bosses.
During our previous info drop, we actually shared a sneak peak at how unannounced Bosses will look like. It’s time you finally have the full story behind them.
Battleship - The Oronix Empire will deploy the BT Series when some serious firepower is required. Don’t let their limited flight pattern fool you. These machines of war pack a punch. Stronger variations can easily take out Vex accord infantry with a single hit and on top of that, these projectiles have partial lock-on capabilities as well. Compared to other ships in this category, they have moderate armor.
Battleship II - This version of the BT Series was created as a tougher, but more streamlined alternative that was easier to manufacture due to the canon not being weaponised. It will fire both projectiles at the same time, dealing damage on par with the original series, assuming that both shots hit the target. It does have a slightly stronger ship hull than the Series I, allowing it to withstand more damage.
Attack Cruiser - The AC Series play the long game. This heavier counterpart of the Battleship has an incredibly strong hull. The strongest, in fact, out of all enemy ships. This makes it a serious threat, especially when it’s attacking alongside the BT Series. A tough exterior has its downsides, however. Most notably, lack of speed. While this Series also has partial projectile lock-on capabilities, it uses an older cannon as its main weapon, dealing the lowest damage in its class.
Mothership - It’s all about power with the MT Series. The core of this ship was designed to further amplify the capability of its projectile. As a result, its damage output is tremendous, the highest in this category. Its dynamic movement pattern will make it more unpredictable compared to the BT and AC series, so tread carefully. Due to the unstable central core, its hull is rather weak for a ship of this size. Make sure to land your shots and neutralize this threat quickly, but avoid being hit by any means necessary.
Destroyer - When the Oronix began production of the DT Series, their intention was to double down on versatility and unpredictability of the MT Series, while enhancing the outer hull. The result was a ship of unprecedented capabilities. It is fast, deadly and it can take a lot of punishment before going down, second only to the AC Series. Its power is not quite at the same level as the Mothership due to its more conventional weapons system, but it still packs a punch.
One last thing that you should know is the exact meaning behind the colors in Cosmic Paradox: Noire. You might have already noticed the color patterns for our miniSeries, but they have a specific meaning for this game specifically and its to do with enemy tiers.
Yellow - Regular tier
Red - Super tier
Purple - Elite tier
Sometimes, the entire body of the ship might represent its tier, other times it could just its lights, exhaust or projectiles.
In any case, once you spot any of these three colors, you will know what you are dealing with.
As for combat relevance, the greater the tier the stronger the opponent. With each tier increase, enemies will deal more damage, have higher health and also offer greater rewards.
This also applies to Supreme enemies which appear in Survival mode. They will also have the same three tiers and their damage values will double from their base versions. You will definitely want to watch out for Supreme Elite enemies, those are exceptionally deadly.
With that, our info drops for Cosmic Paradox: Noire are now officially over. It’s been a fun ride. We hope that you enjoyed reading these stories and that you found them useful.
Before the game is out, we highly encourage everyone to read any info drops that they might have missed so that they are fully prepared before their adventure begins.
Speaking of, you won’t have to wait long. It took a bit longer than anticipated, but general development is now finished. We are currently working on the PlayStation ports as that is the first platform on which the game will launch, followed by Steam.
It sure is an exciting time for us and we are grateful to share it with this amazing community.
We will have more stories for you during launch week.
Until then, take care and have a good one.
